WH40k Book Club Episode #4 – Dark Imperium: Plague War by Guy Haley

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. Every month we will read one book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read the same book. Sometimes we will read different books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

After reading Dark Imperium, we were beyond stoked to dive into the second book of the series: Plague War. Roboute Guilliman ruffled many feathers in his first one hundred years of rebirth, and both of us were eager to see what he would do next. Not to mention, he has his brother to contend with, since Mortarian has decided to turn Ultramar into the Garden of Nurgle.

There’s also this matter of Frater Mathieu and his intent to “save” Roboute. There’s also a saint (maybe?), Roboute’s ongoing battle against the Inquisition, and the surly attitude of an Adeptus Custodes. There is so much to peel back and dissect in this novel, and we loved every second of it.

You can bet as soon as the third and final book of the Dark Imperium series releases, that will be the next book in our list. But since it’s not out yet (probably not even finished), we have another book in mind.

Next book for June 2019: The Talon of Horus by Aaron Dembski-Bowden

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
