WH40k Book Club Episode #3 – Blood of Iax by Robbie MacNiven

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. Every month we will read one book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read the same book. Sometimes we will read different books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

We decided to go the complete opposite direction from The Magos and pick a relatively thin novel. I already bought [easyazon_link identifier=”1784968927″ locale=”US” tag=”chocoboyoga-20″]Blood of Iax[/easyazon_link] before this podcast was even an idea (it was way back in ye old January 2019), Jen wanted to read it, so we figured why not read it together?

We do have one caveat for this book and podcast, however. Do not, repeat, do not read Blood of Iax without first reading [easyazon_link identifier=”1784966649″ locale=”US” tag=”chocoboyoga-20″]Dark Imperium[/easyazon_link]. At the very least, read the official Warhammer 40,000 codices on the Primaris Space Marines. Without that knowledge, the book will be a little confusing.

Blood of Iax is about two literal blood brother Ultramarines, but it’s also the first time (that we’ve seen) we’ve had anything from the orks’ point of view. In many ways, the orks steal the spotlight of this novel entirely. They also stole the spotlight of our podcast discussion.

Next book for May 2019: [easyazon_link identifier=”1784969109″ locale=”US” tag=”chocoboyoga-20″]Dark Imperium: Plague War[/easyazon_link]

The vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher. If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
