WH40k Book Club Episode #19 – What We Read on Our Christmas Vacation

Welcome to yet another very special book club episode, where we discuss what we read on our Christmas vacation. We didn’t have a “real” Christmas vacation per se, but since our kids get off a few weeks for the holidays, we’re claiming that as part of a vacation.

Regardless, we took this time to read whatever we wanted to read. Jen opted to read all Josh Reynolds all the time, starting with a book from the Necromunda series, Kal Jerico: Sinner’s Bounty and then moving toward another horror novel, Dark Harvest. My plan was to read Mephiston: Blood of Sanguinius by Darius Hinks and Sons of the Hydra by Rob Sanders. There’s a major emphasis upon “plan,” because neither one of us followed our plans. However, we did read one book from our plans. I got hijacked by a Black Library ad, and Jen discovered a love for Necromunda she didn’t know she was missing.

This is our last special episode from the holidays, and so we now return to our regularly scheduled programming. First book of 2020 is Lords of Silence by Chris Wraight. We needed the year with Chris Wraight, so it seems fitting to start the year with him too. Also, maybe our favorite Random Imperial Citizen will finally be happy.

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
