The High Kahl’s Oath by Gav Thorpe marks the first novel from the Black Library that is about the Leagues of Votann and their society. We’ve been looking forward to a book about them, as they are a new faction in WH40k. How well did Gav Thorpe introduce the Kin to newcomers, veterans, and general fans of WH40k fiction? And did he make it better than his Indomitus novel, which sadly read like a catalog for new miniatures?
Jen was a bit meh, whereas I enjoyed it a bit. Both of us, however, are looking forward to the next book about these dwarves in space!
Next book is out of our usual scope, meaning that it takes place a full 10,000 years before WH40k. Yep, it’s a novel from the Horus Heresy age, the latest entry in the Horus Heresy Character Series, Eidolon: The Auric Hammer by Marc Collins. For me personally, the best moment with Eidolon was when Fulgrim punched off his head, but I’m open to seeing what else this headless horseman can offer.

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.
