WH40k Book Club Episode #131 – Daemonbreaker by Jude Reid

We do often go back and forth when it comes to the Adepta Sororitas aka Battle Sisters aka Nuns with Guns. We liked most of Pilgrims of Fire, and we loved The Rose in Darkness. We were meh on The Triumph of Saint KatherineThe problem we have found with the Battle Sisters is that they too often flagellate themselves for not being worthy of SOMETHING. Daemonbreaker by Jude Reid actually goes in the opposite direction of self-deprecation. Does it work?

[Editor’s note: Should be Adepta, not Adeptus]
Honest question…did you like Aveline, the main character? Were we supposed to? After discussing this book, I have no idea what to think.

Here’s a book that should tickle nearly everyone’s fancy, Dead Mean Walking by Steve Lyons. It’s an older book, one that’s actually the first of Lyons’ Krieg trilogy, but it got a reprint! It’s also new to us, and considering we loved both Krieg and Siege of Vraaks, we once again have lofty expectations for this one. Maybe we should stop doing that after Lelith and Daemonbreaker

The Daemonbreaker by Jude Reid vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! If you haven’t read the book yet, better do that before you listen! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
