WH40k Book Club Episode #119 – Da Big Dakka by Mike Brooks

We finally have a new book to read, and what a book it was! Who knew that orks vs. drukhari could work so well and be so fun? I suppose with Mike Brooks at the helm with Ufthak Blackhawk, how could Da Big Dakka be anything else?

Yes, we had high hopes for this one. We were nervous about the drukhari’s involvement, because we haven’t really liked anything with them, but Mike Brooks found yet another way to make this incredibly fun. This guy should be the official ork master, because no one writes from the orks’ point of view as well as he does.

It’s hard to believe, but we have a new book for next time as well, Lazarus: Enmity’s Edge by Gary Kloster. Don’t expect the Lion to make an appearance, folks. If he does appear, it’s a delightful surprise instead of a massive disappointment if he doesn’t. We might have ranted a bit at the end as to what GW is even up to with lore and fiction for WH40k. They appear to have something else on their minds, that’s for sure.

The Da Big Dakka by Mike Brooks vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! If you haven’t read the book yet, better do that before you listen! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
