WH40k Book Club Episode #9 – Apocalypse by Josh Reynolds

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. Every month we will read one book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read the same book. Sometimes we will read different books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

We picked up Apocalypse by Josh Reynolds because it was new and it looked fun. We expected it to be a story of a battle in the current WH40k universe, much like the Space Marines Battles books. Since the last few books we’ve read have been rather heavy in terms of lore upheaval, we wanted to take a step into something just as great, albeit a bit lighter in nature.

We had no idea it would be one of the most important lore books written this year.

Yes, you read that correctly. We were floored with Josh Reynolds’ writing, storytelling, and how much he turned everything on its ear. It’s debatable which book has changed the world of WH40k more: Dark Imperium or Apocalypse. What a time to be into this universe!

Our next book circles back to Andy Clark and the ending to Shroud of Night in his newest book, Celestine: The Living Saint. Khârn has killed Saint Celestine, but is death ever the end for this holy saint? How much more can we shake up our grounds of faith this year?

The vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher. If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!

Please note: the video sadly ends before our closing because the video froze. The only part that is missing is our closing speech, which you can hear in the podcast audio. Thanks for watching for Macragge!

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
