Here’s an author who hasn’t written anything for WH40k in awhile, bringing a character we haven’t seen in awhile, back to life. Literally back to life. We’re talking about Inquisitor Astor Sabbathiel, last seen roughly five years ago in a series of comics: Will of Iron, Revelations, and Fallen. The series ended with her death at the hands of a Grey Knight, but now creator George Mann has seen it fit to bring her back in Awakenings.
It’s been a spell since Sabbathiel traversed the galaxy. There’s a rift splitting the galaxy in two, a primarch has returned, and chaos is running rampant. She has no idea who brought her back from death or why, but she’s determined to find the truth the only way an inquisitor can.
Surely nothing can go wrong, right?
Like any good book about the Inquisition, we’re left with more questions than answers. Surely there’s going to be a sequel, right? We need answers!
And one more thing, Black Library, you need to re-release the comics. Titan Comics no longer has them on their site for reasons unknown, and so this would be a great time to re-release the comics in print. You like that extra money, don’t you?
Next book has been out for awhile, but only in limited edition form, because that’s how the Black Library do. Now that Helbrecht: Knight of the Throne is available in hardback, ebook, and audiobook, we can finally read it! We’re excited to get behind the minds of the Black Templars, who are undoubtedly the most even-keeled of all of the Astartes chapters. This going to be great.
The Awakenings by George Mann vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! If you haven’t read the book yet, better do that before you listen! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!
Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.
