WH40k Book Club Episode #74 – Assassinorum Kingmaker by Robert Rath

After the greatness that was and is The Infinite and the Divine, we were stoked to read another book by Robert Rath, Assassinorum Kingmaker. The Officio Assassinorum aren’t often mentioned in books, which made it all the more intriguing for us. One of our favorite episodes of Hammer and Bolter featured members of the Assassinorum Temples, and I had a great time with assassins in the Horus Heresy from Nemesis. To put it mildly, expectations were rather high for this book.

We were not disappointed.

This book had nearly everything we would want. Plot twists. Murder. Medieval-ish setting. Mechs. Chaos. There’s going to be a sequel eventually, yes?

Next up is a dive into the world of 30k, which I know goes against our very name. However, when we were on Patreon, we read a few of the Horus Heresy Legends books, Valdor and Luther, and absolutely loved them. We may not have a Patreon anymore, but we didn’t want to miss out on the next book, Sigismund: The Eternal Crusader by John French. Who wouldn’t want to read about the universe’s angriest loyalist? Other than Abaddon, that is.

The Assassinorum Kingmaker by Robert Rath vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! If you haven’t read the book yet, better do that before you listen! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
