WH40k Book Club Episode #71 – Krieg by Steve Lyons

Not much is known about the Krieg other than what we gather from memes. I personally haven’t read a book that included a Krieg regiment before. My education is literally from memes about happy shovel noises. Oh, and comparing the Krieg to the HBO mini-series Chernobyl. So I was very excited to read a book about the Krieg, the creatively and aptly named Krieg by Steve Lyons.

This book ended up being a treat for both of us. Not only did we get a nice history lesson about the Krieg and the civil war that destroyed their planet, we also got to see “modern-day Krieg” in action with a Cadian regiment. Against orks, no less. To quote Jen, only in the WH40k universe can you get WWI cavalrymen fighting soccer hooligans. And we are here for this madness.

And now for something completely different, we’re actually going to read a book about the genestealers, Day of Ascension by Adrian Tchaikovsky. While neither of us are, uh, keen on reading it, we’re eager to read a new author. And hey, maybe this will teach us something as well.

The Krieg by Steve Lyons vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! If you haven’t read the book yet, better do that before you listen! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
