At long last we’re finally covering the book we meant to cover months ago, The Helwinter Gate by Chris Wraight. We are so glad we realized that this was the third in a trilogy before we started reading back in September, because we would have been so very lost. Of course we would have figured it out rather quickly, but then we’d have to backpedal and change books on the fly, which is never fun. We hated doing that with Urdesh.
Jen had really mixed feelings about the book, whereas I, the Space Wolf Hater™, have officially come around on the Space Wolves. Well, at least with these Space Wolves. I also enjoyed antagonizing Jen about the World Eaters and the Space Wolves’ view on Librarians. It’s really one of my favorite pastimes on this podcast. I might have gone too far with the <redacted> comment. Might have.
We actually have a Christmas book to read this year! Games Workshop has always mentioned the Christmas (Sanguinala) ork, Da Gobbo, especially when it comes to Christmas sales, but now the little git has his own book! We’re very excited to dive into Da Gobbo’s Revenge by Mike Brooks for the next book.
The Helwinter Gate vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! If you haven’t read the book yet, better do that before you listen! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!
Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.
