WH40k Book Club Episode #45 – Pariah by Dan Abnett

Jen read Pariah by Dan Abnett back when it first released in 2012, but she didn’t like it at the time. Keri always meant to read the book after meeting Graham McNeill at a Warhammer Hobby Expo, as he highly recommended it. After Dan Abnett announced that its long awaited sequel, Penitent, was releasing in early 2021, we both decided it was time to take the plunge with Pariah. For Keri, obviously it would be a first-time read. For Jen, it was going to be a refresher. Both came away all in for Penitent.

What’s even more interesting is how we’ve both pulled to separate sides of the debate regarding Bequin, Eisenhorn, and Ravenor. We’ve even changed how we feel about a few characters. It made for a great discussion! (At least we think so!)

Next book on the list is the next book in the Dawn of Fire series, Gate of Bones by Andy Clark. So far, we’ve loved two out of the three Andy Clark books we’ve read, so for better or for worse, our expectations are high for this one.

The Pariah by Dan Abnett vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
