WH40k Book Club Episode #28 – The Emperor’s Gift by Aaron Dembski-Bowden

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

Our backlog game is still going strong as we reach all the way back to 2012 for The Emperor’s Gift by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Both of us had the book on our shelves for quite some time. No time like the present to finally commit to reading about the Grey Knights, right? We both like the Grey Knights, we both like ADB, so this should be a slam dunk, right?

OH MY GOD YES IT WAS.

We tried not to gush too much as we picked apart the various characters, plots, and historical tidbits. But it was hard considering there were Grey Knights AND Space Wolves involved. I’ve even come around on the Space Wolves! Mostly though, we examine how this book as a whole is a metaphor for the Inquisition.

Next up is another book in the backlog, The Last Hunt by Robbie MacNiven. We’re ready for some White Scars action!

The Emperor’s Gift by ADB vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, and Spotify! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review! If you haven’t bought the book yet, better do that before giving a listen! In case you haven’t heard, we are now on Patreon! For just a few bucks a month, you will have access to one bonus episode each month where we talk WH40k in general, not tied to a specific book. We appreciate your love and support regardless of becoming a patron.

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
