WH40k Book Club Episode #114 – Dawn of Fire: Sea of Souls by Chris Wraight

Happy New Year! And as we’ve started the last few new years, we’re kicking off 2024 with another Dawn of Fire book, Sea of Souls Chris Wraight. Even though it’s Chris Wraight, whom we love, we were still skeptical. We’ve grown so tired of the Dawn of Fire series, that surely not even Chris Wraight could save it. And that’s partially true.

Sea of Souls is, sans epilogue, a FANTASTIC Warhammer Horror novel.

But then, there was the epilogue to tie it with the rest of the series. What does this mean for the next book, which is supposedly the last? Will it get The End and the Death treatment with three parts? How could this possibly wrap up? Could we get more Warhammer Horror novels like this, please?

Next up requires a trip to the Wayback Machine since Sea of Souls is the last new WH40k proper book. Without diving into a few recent short story collections, we’ve chosen a series that is near and dear to Jen’s heart, Soul Hunter of the Night Lords trilogy.

The Dawn of Fire: Sea of Souls by Chris Wraight vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! If you haven’t read the book yet, better do that before you listen! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!

Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.

Keri

It was all thanks to a little game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine that alerted Keri to the intricate world of WH40K. She's not into tabletop gaming, but she loves extended lore. After getting through just one omnibus, it was all downhill from there. She can't leave the local Citadel without $150 in books.
