Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. Every month we will read one book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read the same book. Sometimes we will read different books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.
After the stunning events in Andy Clark’s Shroud of Night, we had to dive into Clark’s follow-up novel regarding what happened to Saint Celestine after Khârn’s beheading. Celestine: The Living Saint is a shorter book than most others, but we could easily argue that it’s just long enough.
Granted, Apocalypse was an incredibly tough act to follow. We enjoyed Celestine all the same, but reading it right after reading Apocalypse was a disservice. While Celestine has plenty of shocking turning points (I cried out OH MY GOD! on more than one occasion while reading), it doesn’t have that massive impact Apocalypse does on the universe as a whole. That said though, we’d certainly argue this is a must-read, both for the amazing story and how much the world of WH40k is changing overall.
Our next book comes from repeated recommendations for us: Watchers of the Throne: The Emperor’s Legion by Chris Wraight. Evidently this book sets the tone for the beginning of the Dark Imperium, meaning, we should have read it a long time ago.
