Previously on the WH40k Book Club, we read Silent Hunters by Edoardo Albert, a new author to the Black Library. We absolutely loved the book, so we were STOKED to see Edoardo Albert wrote an Astra Militarum book, Kasrkin. It’s about Cadians and the tau and crazy desert planet that seems to be right out of Frank Herbert’s Dune. Most of WH40k is based on Dune anyway, so it’s definitely not out of place.
However, the book wasn’t really about the tau at all, and it took a turn we didn’t see coming. Suddenly what was a combo of Behind Enemy Lines and Dune threw in classic zombie horror for some good measure. And it was FASCINATING.
Heads up, it’s another gush fest, but we apologize for nothing. No, really, we don’t, because the book was a lot of fun. Even if you aren’t into audiobooks, we can’t recommend the audiobook version enough. Thanks nto the narrator, David Seddon, the Cadians now have a Scottish accent and it’s delightful.
It’s been a bit since we read about Spess Mahreens, and what better way to jump back into the Astartes pool than with the Alpha Legion? Next up is Renegades: Harrowmaster by Mike Brooks. We both loved his take on Alpharius in his primarch novel, so we have great expectations for this one.
The Kasrkin by Edoardo Albert vidcast is, of course, on YouTube, and the podcast is on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and virtually anywhere else you can find podcasts! If you haven’t read the book yet, better do that before you listen! If you like us, please subscribe or even leave a review!
Each episode will be in a traditional book club format. We will read one mutually agreed upon book to discuss at the club meeting aka podcast. Sometimes we will read brand new books, sometimes we will read old books, but there will be a method to our madness as to why.
